Inspired by many readings of Watership Down, and a childhood growing up next to a wide, grassy field teaming with jackrabbits!

These guys are cast and fired ceramic. After I pour and pull them from the mold, I clean up and detail each one by hand then fire in the kiln at cone .04 (low fire). I then coat them with a non-fired metallic coating (gypsum/polymer resin/metal powder) that oxidizes for a nice patina. I finish up with with a light coat of sculpture wax to protect the surface. Due to the nature of the casting/coating/oxidizing process I use, each hare is slightly different from the next.
