Using clay rings and links, I explore the idea of ‘fragile strength’. Inspired by medieval chainmail and jewelry. I translate this protective and decorative metal form into a transient medium. Clay is pliant and fragile, yet the interlocking patterns represent power and connection. Oh, and they look pretty cool hung on a wall!

Each ring in this ceramic chain mail swath is 5” in diameter. It can hang on a wall with a steel rod or bamboo pole (pictured). The rings are not fused so this piece can also be manipulated and arranged for tabletop presentation.
